Thoughts about Thursday

gnarled Stop and consider what a miserable day a Thursday is, at least in the work week. Monday comes as a shock to the system. What in the world just happened? How am I here at work again? Everyone staggers through a typical Monday, mostly on grit and a vague sense of obligation. By Tuesday, you're resigned to your fate. You roll up your sleeves and get some quality work done. After all, you're pretty good at what you do, and you do have to pay your bills. Wednesday? Well, Wednesday is hump day. You can almost see the weekend by then and the whole insane business seems tolerable on a Wednesday. Friday is just like a weekend day with an attendance issue. It's hard to feel serious about anything on a Friday. But Thursday? What in the world is it? Someone has slipped an extra day into the work week that has no character and gives no satisfaction. You're already tired of the work week, but you're not at the end because of this extra day stuck between you and the weekend. Thursdays are cruel. 32 - Number of days since I've been out to Roundrock. Missouri calendar:

Thursday is the day you have to really think about what you are going to put on your blog after a 32 day absence from your beloved patch of woods in the Ozarks.

When I worked at the university, Thursday was the day the weekly student newspaper came out. I had to read that thing from cover to cover, with an eye to possible lawsuits when over-zealous student journalists forgot the basic principles of journalism. Thursday was always a busy day for me. I remember loving Fridays!

I think my students look at the week in the same manner.
