Game camera grabs and is grabbed
I mentioned that the second game camera I had set up during deer season had taken 122 shots. I hoped that among those I might get a half dozen good shots. Not so.
Most of the shots are nothing more than a view of the road where I had hidden the camera. A leaf must have blown by to trigger the shutter. A good many of them were taken at night, and the way I had the camera hidden prevented the flash from illuminating the scene, so I had it turned off.
I did get a few recognizable shots of vehicles coming and going in my woods. My one neighbor (who has never asked for permission to come on my land) passed by in his truck. But all of the other vehicles were involved with the construction of the cabin: the cement mixer made an appearance. So did a truck pulling a trailer loaded with building materials.
Although the construction lead to disappointing shots on the cameras (only one interloper), I don't mind. I suspect the coming and going and the noise of the construction made it a less than desirable place to hunt deer for those ten days.
I got a couple of fuzzy shots of some deer passing in the road, but most of the critter shots involved this curious fellow:
Of course, he (or she) is much too close to the lens to get a focused shot, but I thought it was fun nonetheless.
And while the camera managed to grab the shot, the squirrel appears to have tried to grab the camera in return.
I'm thinking of pointing the game camera at the front door of the cabin to see what critters come and go there.

Great close-up of that squirrel. I think pointing the game camera at the front door could be interesting, but I also like the idea of pointing it out from the deck, to get the view of what you’d be seeing. Either way, I think you’re going to have a lot of activity.
